Starting from Glenridding, this route ascends via Mires Beck and the path to Red Tarn before tackling the steep, grassy eastern ridge of Catstycam. Offers fantastic views of Helvellyn and the surrounding fells.
Ascend from Glenridding via Red Tarn, then scramble up Swirral Edge to Helvellyn before descending to Catstycam. A thrilling and scenic circuit for experienced walkers.
Informal roadside parking near the Youth Hostel and start of routes toward Keppel Cove and Catstycam's northwest ridge. Limited availability, arrive early.
